This week’s feature is far from a ‘hole-in-the-wall” eatery, but its inclusion as a “summer stop” is necessary because of its prime outdoor eating.  Personally, I’ll save this ideal date spot for a beautiful warm evening.  Limeport Inn will win hearts of all ages with its historic reputation yet modern cuisine. Its menu includes lite fare and entrees (steak, chicken, seafood, vegetarian) for any sized appetite.   Though we didn’t have an appetizer, the assorted cheese plate and New England clam chowder and saffron and sweet potatoes caught my eye.   A unique and enjoyable touch was the complimentary lemon basil hummus and pitas they brought before the meal.
Our entrees included salad, making it a hard decision with the wide variety of house-made dressings.  We settled on sweet chili pepper and ginger grapefruit—excellent, refreshing choices.    Once again, the menu offers a complete variety, making it a difficult choice.   Neither of us were disappointed:  Tilapia stuffed with shrimp, crab and asparagus, served over jasmine rice with zucchini ribbons, and drizzled with a roasted red pepper and caper bisque…an artistic presentation, perfect portion, and flavorful selection.  My husband had the seafood creole:  lobster, shrimp, scallops, whitefish and andouille sausage, jasmine rice, okra, corn, garlic, tomato, sweet onion, seafood gumbo sauce.

A visit is not complete without one of their house-made desserts.  In fact, if you are seeking a local dessert spot—this may be one of the best.    We settled on black bottom white chocolate peanut butter mousse pie, and a special: pound cake with blueberry drizzle, chocolate ganache over ice cream.

Though the cool of the Fall seems far away, don’t let it come before trying Limeport Inn for a lunch or dinner date with friends, family or that special someone.

Will we return?  Occasionally-but on a warm day or evening so we can sit outside!
